Intermodal Container / Chassis

Trailcon introduced the 53-foot intermodal container to the Canadian domestic shipping community.

To this day, we remain on the leading edge of the intermodal container leasing sector. Our fleet of intermodal containers is specially designed to facilitate the carriage and transfer of goods from one mode (road) to another (rail) without intermediate reloading. Built strong for repeated use, Trailcon's intermodal containers can be dry or insulated, and equipped with an external heater or refrigeration unit. They are generally 53 feet in length.

Trailcon complements its intermodal containers with a fleet of specialized intermodal container chassis. These are trailers designed to support and carry either an empty or a loaded container. Chassis are a frame-only construction, consisting of a bogie with structural rails and a bulkhead. The frame has locks that secure the container to the chassis for transport. This type of trailer is usually used during the transfer of an intermodal container between road and intermodal transport moves. The chassis is a "trombone" type trailer with four locking positions for 40-, 45-, 48-, and 53-foot containers.
